Captain AmeriCAT: The First CATvenger
Here comes Captain AmeriCAT! I made a "teaser" trailer starring FIB, even though the movie was a long time ago, I still need to make him a star!
I swear I'm going to try to make all the costumes for Fib. He just looks sooooo goooood! =^_^=
Well to start, this pattern is again based off of DIV Maven's candy corn cat sweater but of course now is modified by me in terms of design and length. The red and white stripes were actually done separately; I did 9 rows of 13 single crochet stitches to achieve the length that I wanted. So I did that for red, and then for white, 3 times each so a total of 6 stripes. The objective here was to make sure that I could fit 9 stitches in each stripe when I started the blue section. So you could make the stripes skinnier, just as long as you do the math so that a total of 54 stitches can be made.
After completing 6 stripes, I slip stitched to the other end and stitched it up to close. From there, please see the design below on where to start row 1, marked by "1" in the first blue row:
You'll notice that I have a flat design, but don't be confused; these are all the stitches laid out. You may start at where I specified but notice on the bottom of the photo that you'll work your way to the left and continue around and end at the 54th stitch, which you see is marked to the right of stitch 1. So this is going around the sweater and joining to the first stitch every time and then turning, but for the sake of showing how I did the star design, I made it out this way.
So, from there, the pattern goes:
Blue
Row 1: sc crochet around, 9 sc in each stripe. Join. (54)
Row 2: Turn, ch 2 (or faux dc), dc in each sc around. Join. (54)
Row 3: Turn, ch 2 (or faux dc), dc in each dc around. Join. (54)
Row 4: Turn, ch 2 (or faux dc), dc in each dc around until you reach the white part of the star. Change colors and follow the design.
Continue to follow the design until you reach the start of Row 8, which is where the opening of the arm starts.
Row 8: ch 2 (or faux dc), dc in the next 32 dc, changing colors when needed. (33)
Row 9: Turn. ch 2 (or faux dc), dc in the next 32 dc, changing colors when needed. (33)
Continue to follow the design until you reach the end of the Row 17. Now you need to join the other side - chain 6, and join.
Row 18&19: ch 2, dc in each dc around, join. Turn or continue if you like.
Row 20: Slip stitch around.
