The Flash "Revenge of the Rogues" (Mid-Season Premiere REVIEW)
written by Justin Prince (@prince_justin)
Team Scarlet Speedster is back, after a seriously demoralizing defeat at the hands of the mysterious Reverse-Flash (who I am still not convinced whole-heartedly is in actuality Harrison Wells) Barry and company have been hard at work training to level up his speed, convinced that the only way to catch the Reverse-Flash is the beat him at his one game... that being the whole speed thing.
Leonard "Captain Cold" Snart (Wentworth Miller) returns, cold gun in hand with his new partner Mick "Heat Wave" Rory (Dominic Purcell). Set on taking the Flash on head to head... though these men aren't the typical meta-humans Team Flash is used to locking up, they prove to be just as worthy of adversaries as any baddie with a super power.
Seeing Dominic Purcell share a screen again with Wentworth Miller was the highlight of the episode, aside from how incredibly awesome both actors portray two of the Flash's most powerful enemies, having this mini Prison Break reunion further solidified how awesome this episode was.
Finally, the Flash was forced to make himself known to the citizens of the city he swore to protect, relegated to myth and rumors on the internet, no one (save for those in the know) knew who or what this red blur was. In sheer comic book hero spectacle, the Flash tangles with both Cold and Heat Wave with all of Central City watching.
Family, or rather the family dynamic is once again front and center this episode. Ten episodes in I'm still impressed with how sincere the family dynamic between Barry and Joe feels. Iris is ready to move in with Eddie, prompting Barry to alleviate Joe's empty-nest sadness by moving back into his childhood home.
This was hands down the perfect way to come back from break, after the way we last left off in "The Man in the Yellow Suit" I was hoping they'd keep the hits coming... and with this mid-season premiere I feel it's safe to say that this first season of The Flash is shaping up to be quite a ride... here's hoping they keep it up in the coming episodes.
