Supergirl "Stronger Together" (REVIEW)

Hot on the heels of a pilot episode that proved to be one of the most exciting superhero premieres since last year’s The Flash, National City is primed to acclimating to life with their very own “faster than a speeding bullet” member of the cape and cowled crowd; when Kara attempts to save an oil tanker from a fire but accidentally tears the hold, creating an unexpected oil spill in the bay… the super hero rookie slump hits Supergirl in embarrassing fashion.

As far as the villain of the week is concerned, a Hellgrammite convict… one of the super-powered baddies who escaped from Fort Rozz… leaves bodies while searching for food. Last week, the episode closed with the surprising revelation of the series big baddie Astra; Kara’s aunt who also happens to be her mother’s twin.
With all the fuss about the Girl of Steel, Cat Grant steps up her efforts to get an exclusive interview with Supes herself; going so far as to threatening James Olsen with terminating him if he can’t use his personal relationship with the Man of Steel to get that interview; not one to be underestimated, Cat realizes that the “S” Supergirl wears on her chest is more than just a coincidence, she has to be connected in some way, shape, or form with Superman.
The episode runs at a steady pace, from more drawn out scenes to a montage or superheroing; the pacing of the series so far has been pretty spot on with the overarching narrative. Continuing to keep me interested and jazzed for the next episode.
to be a hero
When a DEO orchestrated trap for the Hellgrammite convict goes south, Alex is taken captive by Astra and when Kara races to her aid, she’s forced to tangle with a familiar face. Kryptonian on Kryptonian battles are paramount when utilizing a hero like Supergirl. How can a near indestructible hero stay fresh when a gun does little more than just annoy.
Astra creates a stunning swirl of emotions for Kara, not only is she family but she also looks exactly like someone who invokes such strong feelings of love. This further enhances my optimism for a series I was already optimistic for.
As the episode closes, Alex unveils Kara’s very own fortress of solitude… complete with a holographic AI of her mother. In the Superman mythos, he utilizes an AI construct of Jor El to act as a sort of digital mentor, while Alura may be dead… she will continue to be part of her daughter’s life is some way/shape/or form.

Supergirl has been one of my most anticipated shows and one that even two episodes in has me hooked for the rest of the season.
