Arrow "Lost in the Flood" (REVIEW)

What a way that last episode ended. While HIVE controlled Rubicon, Felicity and Noah were able to end their bombardment… save for one nuke. The unfortunate casualty was Monument Point. While smaller than Star City, it did contribute to tens of thousands of casualties… fueling Darhk’s powers… and that’s where we pick up this episode.
While Oliver and Diggle face down a powered up Damien Darhk, Thea is still trapped in HIVE’s “arc” buried deep under the city. There’s all manner of conflict occurring this episode with the battle extending from deep in the arc to the confines of cyberspace.

In the arc, Ollie and Dig face down a sizable might of Damien Darhk’s Ghosts in search of Thea while dealing with Lonnie Machin as he enacts all kinds of anarchy across the arc. In cyberspace, Damien Darhk employs the aid of another member of the Arrow rogues gallery in Felicity’s hacker ex boyfriend Cooper Seldon.
Brother Eye acts as a strong opponent to the combined might of Felicity Smoak and her estranged father Noah “the Calculator” Kuttler. Darhk attempts to regain control of Rubicon, all the while completely in the dark about Anarky’s seige of the arc.

As far as the flashbacks are concerned, surprisingly they were pretty entertaining. Oliver and Diana are working to lead the captives on the island away from Reiter as Diana continues to submit to the power of the idol. This changes her in much the same way that it fostered a bloodlust in Reiter.
In what feels like the most action packed episode of Arrow in a very long time. One sequence I feel the need to point out was a scene with Oliver and Diggle racing away from Darhk’s Ghosts. Utilizing his archery skills, this was the most “arrowy” episode all season. He jumped, flipped, and useless-parkoured himself into landing the perfect shot. It was exciting and made for some exciting television.
On the hacker front, Cooper Seldon made the perfect foil for Felicity and Noah. Brother Eye and his “Eye of Sauron” hacking push the father-daughter combo to the brink. Felicity and Noah are attempting to stop Rubicon once and for all, locking Darhk away from being able to use it once and for all.

Lonnie Machin proves to be the most interesting villain to endure so far. His insane obsession with calling Thea “mommy” and the unpredictable nature of the character make him someone I hope they bring on next season in a larger role. No spoilers here, but Lonnie plays a major role in what the finale will look like. What I expected the final battle to be is going to be far different than what I think we’ll be presented with next week. Damien Darhk is proving to be one of the most unstoppable foes Ollie has faced. Every bit as sinister as Slade Wilson, as calculating as Merlyn, and more powerful than Ra’s al Ghul.
The finale is next week, Oliver still owes it to Laurel to kills Damien Darhk… here’s hoping he makes him pay up.
